Oliver!

The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a hungry workhouse orphan, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver makes an escape to London where he finds acceptance among a young group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the cunning Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the kind victim, Mr. Brownlow, takes him in. Fearing for the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap Oliver back, threatening his chances of discovering the true love of a family.

Oliver! is a musical theatre masterpiece, highlighting the talents of a large ensemble cast and thrilling audiences with beloved characters and music.

Clown Town Presents Clowns in a Clown Castle
Directed by Dory Hamm
Opens Feb 14, one weekend, rehearsals starting week of Jan 6
No auditions, everyone gets a role!

The servants of the Royal House of Wiffenpoof have just heard about this incredible thing called getting paid, and they won't stop until they have that sweet coin! Join us at Castle Wiffenpoof for good old medieval clown tomfoolery, banquets, hunts, chamber pots, and a classic peasant rebellion. Regardless of your predetermined social status, laughter is guaranteed!

Our favorite clowns are back and they are going Medieval! An NEYT Classic, Clown Town brings the art of clowning to young actors ages 9-13. A profound yet comical learning experience that ends with a weekend of performances!

 

Towns Schools Theatre
Rehearsals February 24th, Opens March 28th
One of NEYT’s most treasured programs, Town Schools Theatre (TST) is an after-school program open to 4th through 8th graders from participating schools in the greater Brattleboro area. Thanks to the help of participating schools and the Vermont Children’s Trust Foundation, The Clowes Fund, and the Two West Foundation, this program is entirely tuition-free! This program culminates in a fully costumed performance of an original play at the students’ school, as well as three performances on NEYT’s mainstage.

 

NEYT’s Senior Company Presents An Enemy of the People
by Henrik Ibsen, directed by James Gelter

For actors ages 14-19, An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen explores what happens when an individual's scientific discovery conflicts with a collective's economic interests. When Dr. Stockmann discovers a significant health risk to the people of their beloved town, they become determined to spur their fellow citizens to take immediate action. But the unexpected resistance Stockmann meets from the townsfolk, including close friends and family, throws both the town's future and the doctor's community standing into peril.

 

NEYT’s Junior Company Presents JRR Tolkein’s The Hobbit
Adapted by Patricia Gray, directed by Shannon Ward
Opens May 30, two weekends, rehearsals starting week of Apr 21
No auditions, everyone gets a role!

For actors ages 9-13, J.R.R Tolkein's The Hobbit follows Bilbo Baggins, the wizard Gandalf, and a party of dwarves on a quest to reclaim their gold from the dragon Smaug. Along the way they encounter trolls, goblins, elves, and other fantastical characters. This production will feature original music and puppetry.
